Student Information
At the beginning of every Fall Quarter and Summer Quarter returning students will be given proper class placement. Class placement is at the sole discretion of our teaching staff.
Please take into consideration that a lot of thought by our professional staff has gone into placing your child. We are all looking out for his or her best interest in individual dance development.
New students will take a Placement Class. The appropriate teacher will determine the correct class placement for you or your child. It may take only one week or it may take several weeks to determine the correct placement. Please give us time to observe your child in our classroom setting.
Students with irregular attendance patterns, and or who do not make-up missed classes, interrupt the natural flow of learning when they return to class. Material must be re-taught with disrespect to students who attend their classes and do not need to review material at a beginning teaching level for a second time. There is a “first level of teaching” followed by a “review level of teaching” followed by yet another level, etc. Therefore we insist on make-up classes for classes missed at all levels. Progress will depend on consistent class attendance along with make-up program attendance, which will allow you to remain in the class or level in which you originally enrolled. We provide dance programs on a graded system of constant advancement. Something new will be presented and explained in detail each and every week in every class.
Slow repetitions will graduate into quick repetitions. Simple combinations will become complex and basic mechanics will develop a body discipline along with a mental discipline necessary for success in any endeavor.
Before enrolling your child with us, please feel free to ask any questions you might have.
We want you to be satisfied that we are committed to providing the highest quality of training.
Parents and guests are welcome to observe classes during Parents Watch Week, held at the end of each Quarter.
For security reasons, students are required to wear street clothes whenever they enter or leave the studio. Students must make arrangements to be picked up immediately after their classes are dismissed.
Students and their parents should continually be aware of all notices posted in the studio lobby,
all newsletters and notices sent home throughout the year and all information and policies in this enrollment packet.
Miller-Marley teachers are very much in demand in the community for their talents in choreography and skill work; therefore, you may experience a substitute teacher from time to time. These teachers or advanced students are selected very carefully and are trained to carry on with the class as if the primary teacher were there. We believe our staff’s community participation in directing, performing, teaching and choreography makes them better teachers for you.

Attendance and Make-up Policies
Dance classes will follow the Blue Valley School District’s schedule as closely as possible.
If the Blue Valley Schools are closed due to inclement weather, The Miller-Marley School of Dance and Voice will also be closed. If a “Winter Storm Warning” advisory bulletin is announced prior to our evening classes we will be closed. Please check with individual voice teachers as they may still hold class.
Make-up classes should be taken within the Quarter in which they are missed. We do not carry over make-ups from the Fall thru Spring Quarters into the Summer Quarter.
Missed classes cannot be made up in a Quarter for which the student has not paid.
Making up classes in advance is also encouraged. These policies are in effect to ensure the integrity of each class and to promote the proper improvement of the individual student.
ALL FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE!
Once a student is enrolled and has taken a single class, there will be no refund for any reason.
There are no deductions for missed classes and no credits transferred to another Quarter.
All continuing students need to enroll again prior to the first day of class.
There will be a 10% non-refundable charge if you request to drop a class after your enrollment information has been processed.
Tuition is never pro-rated. Students that enroll after a Quarter has begun will need to make-up any missed classes within that Quarter. Please ask your individual teachers for a list of appropriate make-up classes.
