Jan Lord


Musical Theatre Instructor


Jan Lord holds a Master of Music Education degree from the University of Kansas and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Wichita State University. She has been teaching private piano and voice lessons for over 25 years, where she utilizes teaching methods learned through her Yamaha Music Education training. Jan is certified in K-12 vocal music and has years of experience teaching music at schools in Wichita and Overland Park, where she has directed numerous musical productions. She has also worked as a vocal director at The Theatre in the Park. Jan is co-founder of Audition Advantage workshops.

As a performer, Jan has appeared in both professional and community theaters in Wichita and the Kansas City area. Her theatre credits include productions at The Crown Uptown Dinner Theatre, The Empire House Theatre, Starlight Theatre, The Chestnut Fine Arts Center, Padgett Productions, The Theatre in the Park, Leawood Stage Company, Theatre Under the Stars, Blue Valley Community Theatre, and The Barn Players. In addition to musical theatre, Jan enjoys singing in the newly formed small classical choir at Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas. She also sings with the Dickens Carolers, a professional caroling company, every year.

Jan lives in Overland Park with her husband and 3 children. She volunteers at the high school as secretary of the Olathe East Football Booster Club. At her daughter's school, she volunteers in the kindergarten classroom and is the accompanist for the school choir.
